Bunbury Biscuit Christmas Tree
Ingredients - Bunbury
- 225g of Bunbury Biscuit Mix
- 50g melted butter
- 50ml water
- Pure icing sugar for dusting
Makes 5 Christmas Trees
Ingredients – Royal Icing
- 250g Pure icing sugar
- 1 Egg white – for best results, egg should be at room temp
- 1-2 teaspoon water (if required)
This will make more than enough; any excess can be sealed in a snap lock bag (expel all the air) and popped in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Method
- Prepare lined baking tray and pre-heat oven to 180c
- Add dry mix, melted butter and water to a mixing bowl
- Combine well to form a dough ball
- Roll dough to desired thickness and cut 10 x large stars and bake for 7 minutes
- Roll dough to desired thickness and cut 15 x large stars and bake for 5 minutes
- Roll dough to desired thickness and cut 10 x small stars and bake for 3 minutes
- Allow biscuits to cool completely
- Prepare the icing in a separate bowl – beat egg with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar (one tablespoon at a time) and beat/whisk ensuring sugar is incorporated well with each addition.
- When all sugar is added, and the icing is smooth and glossy you are ready to go. Be very sparing with the water you don’t want the icing to run
- Place 3 large stars on a sheet of baking paper. Spoon a little of the icing sugar onto the centre of each star. Top with another same size star, rotating the star so the points sit at a different angle to the first star.
- Repeat layering with more icing and remaining stars to form 3 Christmas trees
- Set aside for 20 minutes or until set
- Dust liberally with icing sugar
