Decent gluten free bread at last!
Baking gluten free bread can be a challenge, as gluten is what gives bread its elasticity, flexibility and structure as well as making it easy to mould and work with. Our gluten free Traditional (formerly Cottage) Bread Mix is suitable for home or commercial ovens and also produces reasonable results in home bread machines. This product is also free of dairy, egg, nuts, potato, sesame and is high in fibre, low in fat, and is Kosher certified.
This versatile mix can be used in a variety of ways such as high top loaves in a tin, to make free form cobs and Vienna loaves, as a mouldable dough it can also be plaited if required. Primarily made from maize and rice this mix will produce a pleasant and neutral flavoured bread with no aftertastes. If you are looking for variety in flavour you can add linseeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, citrus juices, citrus zests, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, glacé fruits, dried fruits, molasses, treacle, coconut sugar etc. As we use yeast for raising purposes, the finished product is more “bread like”.
Other benefits worth mentioning are that any bread products made, may be frozen and thawed. If not frozen or refrigerated the bread will stay fresh for approximately three days. This is a must have product for any gluten free pantry and with many years research and product development behind us you can be assured you are using one of the best gluten free bread mixes available. Our non-coeliac taste testers often make the same comments, “I can’t believe this is not made with wheat!” Unlike wheat bread gluten free dough only requires one rise before baking. It does not require and should not be subjected to repeated knocking down and kneading. Its primary benefits are:
- Cost competitive due to its high yield per kilogram
- Keeps well
- Light, stretchy, and flexible dough
- Normal bread like flavour, texture and crust
- Simple to make
With our various Bread Mixes, you have the confidence in knowing that like all F.G. Roberts products, it’s made in Australia in a totally gluten free environment.
