Apple Golden Crisp

You will need to bake a loaf of traditional bread mix before you make the recipe below.


  • 5 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 6 slices F.G Roberts traditional bread
  • 50g melted butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon


  1. Peel, cut and core apples – slice thinly
  2. Place apple into a microwaveable bowl, add ½ cup water and cook, covered in the microwave for 6-7 min (depending on microwave)
  3. Slice bread into cubes (crusts removed)
  4. Add bread cubes to melted butter, stir in brown sugar and cinnamon
  5. Drain apples and place in oven proof dish
  6. Mix caster sugar into apples
  7. Spoon crumble over apples
  8. Bake at 180 degrees c for approx. 20 mins until top is golden
